Britain did not exhibit officially
Poster for the 1936 Venice Biennale
Britian did not exhibit officially due to complications arising from the transfer of the organisation of the exhibition to the British Council, and to the breach with Italy caused by Mussolini's invasion of Abyssinia.
Despite this, an exhibition was held in the British pavilion.
